BVLGARI
I knew about Bulgari since I was a child, because in the house of my father Spiros Klioumis in Greece, which is very close to the village Paramythia where the founder of Bulgari came from, worked a man who took care of the houses of the family Bulgari and invited us many times to visit. My father was born in the north of Greece, in Epirus, very green and beautiful. Every summer the family met in Parga, a beautiful fishermen village. I married there my husband Eduardo Marturet. It was a traditional, fun wedding. We dressed up like 100 years ago and hired our outfits in the national museum of Ioanina. To be able to marry in the Orthodox Greek Church, there in Parga, we had to go to Paramythia, a village high in the mountains 40 kilometers away from our village. Paramythia in Greek means fairytale and driving up there is really very much like one. The place and surroundings are magic. This mountains of the Pindhos are really very beautiful and on one side they end in the famous underworld, the Hades. It is a very impressive area.There is a monastery and monks dressed in black, with long beards, received us, made questions and finally gave us the paper we needed to get married.
This is the same place were the famous Bulgari founder came from!
Sotirios Voulgaris was born in Paramythia, in March 1857. He learned the art of the silversmith from his father Giorgio and with lost of passion he designed belts made out of silver, earrings, sword sheaths and buttons which still today are tradition in this area of greece. His village was destroyed by a big fire and Sotirios went to Corfu, and then in 1881 to Rome. It is there were he changed his name into Sotirio and opened his first shop en Visa Sistina. Then later together with his sons Constantino & Giorgio they opened the first shop called Via Condotti-Bulgari. In that time which was just after the second world war, the designs were influenced by the french style and the Bulgari brothers decided to change the style inspired by the ancient greek and roman one.
Would he ever imagine that his jewels would be so famous? Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, Claudia Cardinale and princesses as Princess Grace from Monaco are only some of the Icon of this brand. Bulgari has a whole room dedicated to the pieces of big stars from Hollywood and Cinecitta.
His great grandchild Francesco Trapani is now in charge and expanding this amazing luxury brand. Now they also have fragances, accessories spas & hotels.

Mi padre Spiros Klioumis nació en el norte de Grecia en Epirus, hermosa zona. Cada verano nos encontramos en un pueblo bellísimo llamado Parga donde me casé de iglesia con mi esposo Eduardo Marturet en una boda tradicional (100 años atrás).
Para poder casarme tuvimos que ir a un pueblo llamado Paramithia que queda como a 4o km arriba en las impresionantes montañas. Paramithia significa cuento de hadas en griego y verdaderamente el camino hacía allá es literalmente estar en un cuento de hadas. Pasas un paisaje mágico, verde, las montañas del Pindhos son bellísimas y un lado de ellas terminan en el hades. Una zona impresionante. Allí en una especia de monasterio, los monjes todos vestidos de negro y con barbas largas nos hicieron algunas preguntas y nos dieron el certificado para que nos pudimos casar.
Bvlgari o Bulgary.
Yo había ya oído de Bvlgari, primero porque conocía la marca y segundo porque en la casa de mis padres trabajó un griego que conocía la familia y les cuidaba sus casas y siempre nos invitó a pasar por allí.
Sotirios Voulgaris nació en Paramithia en 18 marzo 1857 y todo sus 10 hermanos se murieron. El aprendió el oficio de joyero de plata de su padre Giorgos y con mucha pasión creó cinturones de plata, sarcillos, vainas de plata y botones todo en plata como era y aun es bastante común en esta zona. Este hermoso pueblo sufrió un gran fuego e hizo que Sotirios se fuera primero para la isla de Corfu y luego para Roma en 1881. Cambio su nombre en Sotirio y abrió su primera tienda en Via Sistina. Luego junto a sus hijos Constantinos y Giorgio abrieron la primera tienda llamada Via Condotti-Bulgari. En esta época que era justo después de la segunda guerra mundial la influencia de las joyas era influenciado por el estilo francés, pero los hijos de Sotirio decidieron de cambiar el estilo y inspirándose en la antigua Grecia y el renacimiento italiano, nació el estilo Bvlgari.
Sotirios se iba a imaginar que sus joyas serían tan famosas? Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, Claudia Cardinale y princesas reales como Princess Grace de Monaco son algunas de las Iconos de esta marca. Hay un cuarto completo dedicado a las piezas de los grandes de Hollywood e Cinecitta!
El bis nieto de Sotirio , Francessco Trapani sigue expandiendo esta hermosa marca y así vemos fragancias, accesorios, spas & hoteles.
